Health ministers from the Group of Eight nations have pledged to work together to find a treatment for dementia.

The disease afflicts a growing number of people around the world.

The ministers have closed the first Dementia Summit meeting in London after adopting a joint declaration.

Researchers and officials from the World Health Organization and pharmaceutical companies also attended.

The declaration says the estimated global cost of therapy and nursing care for the disease tops 600 billion dollars.
